Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh Celebrates 18 Years of Independence

A festive mood has spread throughout the capital as celebrations to mark 18 years of independence take place in the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh’s capital city, Stepanakert, today.
Early in the morning, people began to gather and place flowers before the Unknown Warrior Memorial, honoring the memory of those who died in the fight for Nagorno-Karabakh’s independence.
Government officials, including President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and President of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh Bako Sahakyan, also paid their respects by placing flowers at the memorial.
Armenia’s former president, Robert Kocharian, and Nagorno-Karabakh’s former president, Argadi Khugasyan, also attended celebrations in Stepanakert.
