Armenia will not face war threats as long as Azerbaijan has oil resources, politician Hmayak Hovhannisyan has said.

"We will not face the threat of war unless Azerbaijan has exhausted its last barrel of oil and the last cubic meter its natural gas. But we must be prepared [for that] because the day is not far away," he told a news conference on Monday.

"Should the war operations be resumed, we will find ourselves in a vulnerable situation," he said, referring to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan's recent statement in Strasburg, when the president said Azerbaijan is gaining advantage over Armenia by preparing its people to war

The politician further referred tp Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's recent apology call from Armenian president. " They first called for an apology from the Jews, and now they demand … It is characteristic of Turkey's aggressive policies," he said.

Speaking further, Lernik Alexanyan of the ruling Republican Party faction in parliament said such move is characteristic of the Turkish premier.

"Erdogan first follows a hard line; then he softens his positions," he added.
