The central office of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) plans to hold a sitting soon to discuss the ANC's participation in the coming parliamentary elections.

ANC Coordinator Levon Zurabyan told the Azatutyun radio (Armenian service of RFE/Radio Liberty) the ANC plans to lead major popular revolts this February and March.

"We plan mass events to exert pressure on authorities," he said.

"A snap presidential election remains our main demand," he added.

"If we fail before the next parliamentary elections, we must use the entire process – the election campaign, elections proper and the post-election processes – to achieve this goal," Zurabyan said.

He also noted that the ANC has not yet discussed the issue of it ticket.

As to the first Armenian Levon Ter-Petrosyan's desire to run for presidency, Zurabyan noted that Ter-Petrosyan prefers the way that will enable him to succeed in establishing democracy in Armenia.
