CEC received no complaints, says chairman

Armenia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has not received any complaints following yesterday’s elections to the local-self government bodies, the CEC chairman has said.

Tigran Mukuchyan told a news conference on Monday that overall, 13 irregularities had been observed in the polling stations, though none had filed any appeal.

Mukuchyan said that the irregularities were caused by count inaccuracies, adding that they will be disclosed until the final outcomes are made public.

As for the media reports that the seals in the polling stations had been wet, he said: “Before being taken to polling stations, the seals are pre-inked, and depending on the quantity of the glycerin in the ink-spot, they have different periods of drying.”

Speaking of the municipal polls in Hrazdan town, Mukuchyan said that the election turnout there was 58.04%, with the majority of voters -53.2% - having cast their ballots in favor of the incumbent mayor, Aram Danielyan, and the rest – 46.8% - for the opposition candidate, Sasun Mikaelyan.
