Candidate invites contestant to televised debate

Gayane Arustamyan, a journalist who is going to run for parliament from a single-mandate constituency, has invited her contestant, President of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) Ruben Hayrapetyan, to a televised debate.

At a news conference on Wednesday, she asked Armenia TV channel to give her an opportunity to meet tete-a-tete with her contender on air.

As for Stepan Safaryan (Heritage party), the other candidate nominated in the same electoral district, Arustamyan said she doesn’t see any problem for having a debate with him.

“I have covered his political activity and remember him. I will speak to him in any format that will make us two meet together,” she said.

Speaking of her electoral campaign, Arustamyan said she will do door-to-door canvassing as she has opened only one sub-headquarters.

“I have only one sub-headquarters that a supporter has provided to me for a month,” she said.

Arustamyan added the she has chosen two slogans for her parliament race - Vote not to be Defeated, and No Vote for the Criminal Regime.
