Armenian chefs wish to fix their professional holiday in calendar

The International Chefs Day, which is celebrated worldwide every year on June 12, has not been officially declared a holiday in Armenia, according to Sedrak Mamulyan, the president of the Armenian Cookery Traditions and Development Protection, NGO.
At a news conference on Saturday, Mamulyan said that though the chefs in Armenia traditionally celebrate their professional holiday, he would very much wish June 12 to be marked as a holiday in calendars.
“We applied the fourth National Assembly in this connection, but our holiday was never fixed. We are now going to turn to the newly elected parliament,” he said.
Mamulyan added that they periodically go harvesting in different regions of Armenia considering their role as professional chefs very important in terms of developing tourism.
“After visiting a country, a tourist remembers what his eyes saw and his palate felt. We are trying to treat our tourists to our national dishes, because that’s also interesting to them. We wish to make our country attractive. We are chefs, and that’s all we can do,” he added.
