The Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) has studied the statement by Armenia’s National Security Service.

The party has no doubts that the Civilitas Foundation has never had any problems with law.

“I have no doubts that Vartan Oskanian and the Civilitas Foundation will prove the charges to be ungrounded,” Head of the PAP parliamentary group Naira Zohrabyan told Tert.am.

On May 25, 2012, the National Security Service of Armenia instituted a criminal charge on the basis of Article 190 of the RA Criminal Code (money laundering).

A statement by the National Security Service says that, in defiance of Armenia’s law and its own Regulations, the Civilitas Foundation did not present the statements on the funds intended for the financial year 2011, including around US $2m allocated by the Polymer Materials and Hantsman International corporations as welfare funds.

As to a link between the criminal charge against Oskanian and his possible nomination in the next presidential election in Armenia, Zohrabyan said that any political figure’s ambitions must never serve as a basis for “certain processes.”
