Glendale-based Armenian, director of Haytun TV-project Hamlet Nersisyan, who is in Armenia currently, spoke about the role of the Armenian community in the USA, ties with the homeland, the implemented work and results.

The speaker also referred to the situation existing in Armenia, stressing that everyone sees the serious social issues demanding urgent solution.

Nersisian neither confirmed nor refuted the viewpoint that the Diaspora has turned its back to the homeland. “If a country has social issues, it is undeveloped country, and naturally people will prefer a safer place for investments. The trust toward the state has faded away as many people have come here and lost their money. They will return when the country becomes safe again, may be in a year.”

Expressing conviction that the existing difficulties will be smoothed up, Nersisian called on to unite for reaching a good result. “It is time to unite. It is our goal,” our compatriot stated.

According to him, all the American-Armenians are patriots. “The Armenians who leave their homeland become patriots,” the speaker said, bringing as an example their efforts addressed to the Armenian genocide recognition.

Referring to his own TV project, the speaker said they are trying to give the audience what the others have failed to give - historic-cultural, scientific and in some respect political programs. “The accent in the programs is being made on the history of Armenian people and culture,” Hamlet Nersisian said.
