Armenia’s websites ‘not silent’ on election silence day
18:08 • 15.06.12
Ten Armenian news websites committed violations on May 5, election silence day.
Specifically, they made 152 mentions of the nine political forces running for parliament – 74 mentions of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), 28 mentions of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and 25 mentions of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D), Suren Deheryan, Editor-in-Chief, Journalists for the Future NGO, told journalists on Friday.
The main reason was the blast of balloons at the RPA rally on the election silence day, as well as the consideration of the application PAP, ANC and ARF-D lodged with the Constitutional Court, demanding the publication of the lists of voters that actually participated in the elections.
Among other reasons were the incident that involved RPA and PAP representatives in one of Armenia’s regions, meetings Turkish journalists held with Armenian political forces and Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s meeting with the international monitoring group.
The Tert.am made 15 mentions, with 14 of them neutral and one favorable.
