World Bank has appointed Henry Kerali the head of its regional office in the South Caucasus.

Kerali will replace Asad Alami, Trend.az reported, citing the Georgian media.

Kerali has told journalists in Tbilisi that he will continue the WB consistent policy in the region.

"We will work on development of the banking system in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia," he was quoted as saying. "WB has a strategic plan for the region and it will be implemented in the future. We will establish the contacts with representatives of civil society and strategic partners in the region."

Kerali will officially take office on July 1. A citizen of Uganda and Great Britain, he has experience in regional governance in the countries of South America, Africa, East and South Asia, Central Asia and Europe.
