Chorrord Inqninshkanutyun: Bako Sahakyan meets Armenia’s second president in Artsakh
09:43 • 19.06.12

The paper says it has learned from sources that President of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) Republic Bako Sahakyan received on Saturday Armenia’s second president, Robert Kocharyan.
They reportedly had a long conversation over the upcoming presidential election in Karabakh, with Kocharyan calling for the polls to be the most democratic.
Citing its sources, the paper says that the parties also addressed the investment programs in Karabakh, noting that more serious businessmen from the Russian Federation and the United States are going to visit the country this year.
The paper contacted both sides’ press secretaries for comments but neither of them reportedly confirmed or denied anything.
Kohcaryan’s press secretary, Victor Soghomonyan, told the Choorord Ishkhanutyun correspondent that he was unaware of any meeting.
“I have no information about that meeting. Moreover, it is already several days Robert Kocharyan is abroad, but I will try to verify the report when he is back,” he was quoted as saying.
“I cannot say whether or not there has been any meeting in this period, but Robert Kocharyan attended the May 9 celebrations in Karabakh together with several officials. They might have had a conversation on different topics in that period, but it might not have necessarily addressed the presidential election,” Sahakyan’s spokesperson, David Babayan, told the paper.
