On the occasion of World Refugee Day, the Democratic Party of Armenia (DPA) has presented its approaches to resolving refugees’ problems to journalists.

At a press conference, DPA Chairman Aram G. Sargsyan noted that party representatives visited refugees during the parliamentary election campaign and saw the “terrible conditions” they are living in.

“For 23 years the people have been living in such conditions. Many of them left the country, others will leave at the first opportunity. Things must not go on like this,” the DPA leader said.

The party plans to present a package of means to resolve refugees’ problems to Armenia’s government.

Refugees, who have been living in temporary lodgings for 23 years, have lost all hopes for their own housing.

“We have forgotten all about these people. They are impoverished and need special attention. A special fund must be established to deal with this problem,” Aram G. Sargsyan said.

“All the sections of population need special attention,” he concluded.
