The United States Embassy in Yerevan, in partnership with the Women’s Rights Center (WRC), NGO and the Beautified Project, has organized a rock concert in the capital city in an attempt to raise public awareness of domestic violence.
The concert, Rock Against Violence Against Women, aims to underscore the Embassy’s commitment to putting an end to the problem.
As Ambassador Joh Haffern has said in his latest video blog, advancing the status of women and girls, is a key part of their effort to advance global peace, security and prosperity.
“No country can prosper if it does not make a full use of the skills and talents of half of its population,” he said in the video released on Wednesday,
Praising the WRC’s effort to combat domestic violence in Armenia Ambassador Haffern has attached a major importance of the joint event, thanking the partners for cooperation.
“We are doing a public awareness event on the important issue of domestic violence. Really, it is important to raise public awareness of on the problem, and the Women’s rights center is doing good work on this,” he said.
The concert took place at Yerevan’s Puppet Theatre on May 15, the International Day of Families.
