The Executive Body of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) opened its meeting at the RPA central office, at 8:00pm.
RPA Chairman, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan is chairing the meeting. However, the RPA Council’s meeting will not follow the Executive Body’s meeting, RPA Spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov told Tert.am.
He has no information on whether the meeting will discuss the issue of governors of Armenia’s regions. With respect to the government program for 2012-2017, Sharmazanov noted that it is not on the agenda.
Reliable forces informed Tert.am that the government is concerned over its highly criticized program. Following the approval of the program by Armenia’s parliament, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan invited all the ministers and gave them strict instructions to do their best to implement the government program.
The premier also stressed the importance of discipline.
On Wednesday, Armenia’s parliament began discussing the government program for 2012-2017. Today, on Thursday, by 75 to 47, with one abstention the parliament approved the program.
The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and Rule of Law parliamentary groups voted for the program, whereas the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), Armenian National Congress (ANC) and Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) voted against the document.
With respect to governors, the replacement of PAP members is on the agenda. Specifically, the ruling party is to appoint its members as governors in Vaiots Dzor and Gegharkunik.
