Yerkir: Republican to discuss appointment of regional governors
10:03 • 21.06.12

The appointment of Armenia’s regional governors is on the agenda of the ruling Republican Party’s executive board meeting scheduled later today, the paper has learned.
Recalling the experience of the past, it says the incumbent governors are going to be re-appointed, as was the case with ministers.
“The logic is the same – better the devil you know than the devil you don’t know,” the paper comments, adding that the governor of Gegharkunik will be Rafik Gevorgyan, the president of the region’s territorial organization, who also represents the ruling Republican Party faction in parliament.
Though Grigoryan had earlier told Yerkir that he has not received any proposal of the kind and feels better in parliament, he will definitely agree to become a regional governor should his party decide so, the paper adds.
