The Russian online social network, Odnoklassniki (classmates), has launched a version in the Armenian language.

The initiative offers the Armenian users of the popular site to communicate with friends in their native tongue.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Alexander Izryadnov, the director of the marketing and strategic communication department of Odnoklassniki, said only the website’s mobile version has been translated into Armenian for now (estimates show that around 30% of subscribers access the site from mobile devices). As for the full site, its translation will be available in the coming month.

“We have done everything possible to enable everyone in our social network to communicate with friends and close people in his or her native language,” he said, adding that around 787,000 Armenians users are currently subscribed to the network.

The administrators of the social networking site are also planning to launch the Armenian version of the applications for iOS Windowsphone and Symbian devices.
