Action group for On-Air Cleanness to battle on-air violence in Armenia

Armenian TV, especially TV series, is a source of aggression, which is presented as a form of culture, Vahram Sirakyan, a member of the group for On-Air Cleanness, told journalists on Monday.
He presented the action group’s steps aimed at getting their demand for “on-air cleanness” satisfied.
He noted that a number of cultural workers have joined the group.
Last week, the group addressed an open letter to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
Armenian is now drawn into disputes that were settled in the West back in 1980s.
Zhirair Dadasyan, Vice-Chairman of the TV and Radio Committee of Armenia, believes that TV can clean its broadcasts through “self-control.”
“We do not object to TV serials, but we do object to their quality,” he said.
Zakhar Khachatryan, a member of the group for On-Air Cleanness pointed out the need for the relevant agencies to clarify the standards.
