Government presents modest program, Republican party rep says

The Armenian government has presented a very modest program which can be implemented, chairman of the NA’s Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs Standing Committee Gagik Minasyan said speaking to reporters today.
“Our opponents forward two reasons grounding their disapproval. The first is that the same government failed to implement the program during the previous years. Though, not only Armenia has registered economic decline as a result of the crisis but the whole world,” Minasyan said, adding that the second reason is the program’s modesty.
On June 21 with 75 for, 47 against and one abstention the parliament approved the government’s program.
Gagik Minasyan also said that 5-7 percent economic growth is expected during this year. “During the crisis our economy was only slightly diversified and the main source of our economy was the construction investments. When the crisis started no investments were made in the sphere becoming the main reason of decline,” the RPA member said.
Commenting on the views of American economists who have studied the Armenian market and forecasted economic growth not more than 4 percent, Minasyan said they will do their best for the implementation of the Government’s program.
