Kofi Annan announces UN summit of world powers on Syria but Iran, Saudi Arabia are not invited, The AP reports.
Annan's announcement cited invitations to the five veto-wielding council members — Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States — plus Turkey. He also said the invitations included the U.N. secretary-general and representatives of the League of Arab States including diplomats from Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar.
The Saturday conference in Geneva aims at finding ways to stop the violence in Syria.
