Former chief of Armenia’s Road Police unlikely to appeal court’s sentence

Former chief of Armenia’s Road Police Margar Ohanyan is unlikely to appeal court’s sentence, that has sent him to prison for 6 years, Ohanyan’s defense attorney Mkrtich Vasakyan told Tert.am.
“More probably Ohanyan will not appeal the court’s sentence. Though we still have a day for doing it, but I do not think any step will be undertaken,” Vasakyan said.
Ohanyan was charged with misappropriation of state property, causing the state a damage of 160 million drams. Before the start of the trial, Ohanyan had paid part of the money to the state. Three other defendants in this case, Road Police representatives Ara Levonyan, Samvel Makhmuryan, and ex-commander Stepan Karakhanyan, were put on probation for a period of four years.
