At their meeting on Tuesday, Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and Director of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund of Armenia Tamara Babayan discussed energy efficiency issues.
Artur Kochnakyan, a World Bank (WB) representative, participated in the meeting.
Mayor Margaryan stressed the importance of cooperation with the Fund and singled out the energy saving programs implemented in a number of schools, as well as provision of gas supply to socially vulnerable families, over the past two years.
“I welcome all the ideas and programs aimed at developing municipal economy and improving the population’s socio-economic conditions. We have repeatedly stated our willingness to discuss all the proposals that would ensure high standards of comfort in Armenia. We are also ready to continue mutually beneficial cooperation,” the Yerevan mayor said.
Mrs Babayan noted that the main aim of the WB-sponsored program is ensuring energy efficiency, which enhances financial management efficiency.
The programs implemented in Armenia’s capital in recent months have produced tangible results. This is evidence that efficient financial management will facilitate more and more tangible changes in Yerevan, Babayan said.
She assured the Yerevan mayor that the Fund is interested in further cooperation. The Fund is ready to launch mutually beneficial projects within the shortest period possible, Babayan added.
Mr Kochnakyan noted that the WB is ready to expand cooperation with the Yerevan Municipality.
Mayor Margaryan proposed discussing areas of cooperation with the Yerevan Municipality’s relevant departments.
