Thirty-five Armenian peacekeepers left for Kosovo on Friday.

US Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern and Armenia’s First Deputy Minister of Defense David Tonoyan arrived at the Zvartnots airport to see them off.

Addressing the peacekeepers, Tonoyan said that Armenia’s armed forces must never have any incomplete missions when the supreme command issues relevant orders.

“Once again we are proud of holding this ceremony. This is evidence of our peacekeepers’ high professional level and Armenian soldiers’ discipline,” he said.

“It is no coincidence that Armenian peacemakers’ gained a reputation of reliable partners in Kosovo and Afghanistan,” Tonoyan said. Armenian peacekeepers’ service enhances the Armenian armed forces’ international reputation.

He is grateful to the US Armed Forces for trust and assistance, which will enable the Armenian peacekeepers to be do efficient service in Kosovo.

Ambassador Heffern wished Armenian peacekeepers successful service. Talking to journalists, he noted that the NATO Command appreciates Armenian troops’ missions.

He pointed out serious progress in Armenia-NATO security missions.

The Armenian peacekeepers will be on military patrol, ensure checkpoint security and convoy the guards.

Armenia has been involved in peacekeeping missions in Kosovo since 2004.
