Raffi Hovhannissyan to be Heritage party’s presidential candidate

Opposition Heritage party leader Raffi Hovhannissyan will be the party’s candidate at the coming presidential elections in Armenia, MP Zaruhi Postanjyan told a news conference today.
Asked whether the decision has officially been made inside the party, she said there is no decision yet. “We still have time for making our decision. But we already know that our candidate will be Raffi Hovhannissyan,” she said, voicing hope that the party’s leader will be the united candidate of the opposition.
“We are the force that wants real and systematic changes,” Postanjyan said.
The party member said in case Armenian National Congress (ANC) leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan runs for presidency, Heritage party will not perceive him a united opposition candidate.
“We welcome the idea of united candidate but not in case of Levon Ter-Petrosyan. We are not going to support either incumbent or former presidents. They have already had their contribution to impeding Armenia’s development,” Zaruhi Postanjyan said.
