Armenian vice prime minister, territorial administration minister Armen Gevorgyan received today delegation headed by Interior Minister of Iran Mostafa Mohammad Najjar, press office of the ministry reports.

The vice premier welcomed the guests, voicing conviction that the visit will give an opportunity to discuss concrete issues on expansion of bilateral cooperation.

Noting about the warm and dynamically developing relations, the vice premier said the volume of trade turnover between the two countries increases from year to year.

“We have quite ambitious programs on the agenda of bilateral relations – starting from construction of hydro power plant on Arax River, ending with construction of Iran-Armenia railway. The implementation of these programs will be a serious impetus to the development of economic relations and are of regional significance,” the vice prime minister said.

Gevorgyan assessed the decentralized cooperation between the countries as positive, though stressed about the existence of great potential for boosting ties. “The Armenian government wants to encourage the development of relations between the two countries as this format of cooperation gives an opportunity to launch multisided partnership between the two countries,” Gevorgyan said.

Iranian interior minister stressed the high-level relations existing between the two countries, noting the wide opportunities of developing economic relations. He said his delegation comprises governors of Western and Eastern Atrpatakans who will discuss here cooperation issues with governors of Armenian provinces.

The parties stressed the importance of creating necessary conditions for the development of relations.

As spheres of further cooperation, the parties mentioned agriculture, cattle-breeding, IT.

The parties also exchanged thoughts over regional issues.
