The paper says it has learned from sources that the head of the passport department of Vanadzor city, Vachik Miskaryan, has been recently sacked.
He is reportedly facing criminal proceeding for issuing fake information on a parliamentary nominee.
The paper refers to a a June 21 report uncovering certain details on the case. It says particularly that the competent authorities gave Edmond Marukyan (now a member of the National Assembly) a fake notice that he permanently resided in Armenia in the past five years. But the paper claims that Marukyan was absent from the country at least for one year as he studied at the United States University of Minnesota from August 2009 until July 2010.
It is not only illogical but also immoral to breach a law before starting work in the legislative, says the paper, adding that Miskaryan gave the then parliament runner the fake notice by an official instruction or a friendly request by the prosecutor of the third largest city, Karen Shahbazyan
“It is, of course, more convenient to sack a passport department chief rather than displease a prosecutor,” the paper says, commenting on Miskaryan’s .
