Ex-Israeli PM Olmert is convicted

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has been found guilty of corruption by a court in Jerusalem.

Mr Olmert was cleared on two other counts, BBC reports.

He was plagued during his three years in office by a string of corruption scandals, and resigned in February 2009.

The charges related to his time when he was a mayor, then cabinet minister before he became prime minister in 2006. He denied all the accusations.
