Javakhk Diaspora of Russia released a statement expressing its readiness to assist the Syrian Armenians who appeared in a difficult situation as a result of clashes ongoing in Syria for more than a year.

They have noted that the situation in Syria continues being tensed though the big cities are mainly under the control of governmental forces. “It is difficult to predict what can happen in future but if believe the coming information the Syrian Armenian community has appeared in rather complicated and dangerous situation,” the statement runs.

The NGO is getting a number of letters where the Javakhk Armenians are expressing their concern over the situation in Syria.

“People of Javakhk cannot remain indifferent toward the Armenian community and in case of necessity are ready to give them shelter. We apply to the Georgian authorities and people with request to give temporary asylum to the Armenian refugees in Samtskhe-Javakhk. We also ask to discuss the opportunity of giving them material assistance as well,” the statement runs.

“We apply to the Armenian authorities with request to be ready to the compulsory displacement of Syrian Armenian refugees and settle them in Javakhk. We ask to search for opportunities beforehand to avoid issues with Georgian authorities, including while crossing the border,” the Javakhk Armenians stated.
