The Armenian ambassador to Georgia met the governor of Samtskhe-Javakheti (Javakhk) in the course of his Friday visit to the Armenian-populated region.

The discussion between Hovhannes Manukyan and Ivane Tsiklauri, focused on bilateral relations agenda in the socio-economic and cultural sectors.

The sides exchanged thoughts over socio-economic programs and the on-going modernization of infrastructures. They both stressed the importance of taking steps towards preserving the identity of Javakhk-Armenians.

The two officials further agreed to establish a close cooperation over issues of bilateral interests.

Later in the day, the diplomat attended the opening of the renovated church of St. Karapet (Akhalkalaki province).

The church, which was close for around a century, has been repaired thanks to the efforts of the residents and former residents of the Kardzakh village. The ceremony was conducted by the prelate of the Georgian-Armenian diocese, Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan.
