Vardavar celebrated throughout Armenia (photos)

The most beloved holiday Vardavar is being celebrated today throughout the whole country.

 

On this day people of all ages drench each other with water. It is common to see people pouring buckets of water from balconies on unsuspecting people walking below them.

 

After adoption of Christianity the holiday had some changes and nowadays it is being celebrated as a holiday dedicated to Christ’s transfiguration.

 

Vardavar is widely celebrated in Mets Masrik village of Gegharkunik region as well. Photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan presents the photos of children playing with each other.
