Prosperous Armenia rep comments on Heritage leader’s ‘technical reasons’

Naira Zohrabyan, Secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) parliamentary group, regards as illogical the statement by Ruben Hakobyan, Head of the Heritage party group.

According to Hakobyan, it was “for technical reasons” that Heritage party Chairman Raffi Hovannisyan failed to sign the form demanding parliamentary hearings on the incident in the Harsnaqar restaurant. However, the Heritage party leader was “in constant touch” with others and thus believed that all the Heritage group members signed the document.

Following this logic, one can say that “seven of the PAP group members signed, so let us claim that all the 37 members did.”

“It is up to any MP to sign or not. I am surprised at the persistency of distorting facts. After all, it is up to Mr Hovannisyan,” she told Tert.am.

Interestingly, Many of Armenians Facebook users believe that the initiative will fail.

On his Facebook page, the political engineer Karen Kocharyan responded to the comments, saying that the PAP is able to call its MPs back from abroad and ensure 44 signatures.

Mrs Zohrabyan said that the PAP informed its partners in advance it would not be able to ensure 44 votes.

“First, it is technically impossible. Second, we do not think a special meeting is necessary now. We have been honest,” Zohrabyan said. There was an initiative, and the PAP MPs that were in Armenia joined it.
