The Armenian Harvest Promotion Center (AHPC) , assisted by the Yerevan Brandy Company, is implementing its pilot project of planting seedless grape vines.
The long-term aim of the project is the plantation of seedless grape vines in an area of 5,000 hectares and increasing exports of Armenian seedless grapes, which are in great demand in foreign markets.
This spring, over 400,000 stalks of seedless grapes were prepared for hydroponic growing.
Gardens were planted in an area of 3.1 hectares in the village of Nalbandyan, Armavir region, an experimental ground of the Viticulture and Horticulture laboratory at Armenian State Agricultural University, and the Institute of Hydroponics Problems, Armenian National Academy of Sciences.
In vitro method was applied at the Scientific Center of Agrobiological Technologies.
Yerevan State University and the Tierras de Armenia company are involved in the program as well.
AHPC is negotiating with farmers for the planting of vineyards using up-to-date agrotechnologies.
“Under our program, we will be assisting investors in planting vineyards, selling the products and dealing with other problems. Along with commercial production of seedless grapes, we will create effective selling and export mechanisms,” Alexan Arakelyan, AHPC Investment Director, said.
