Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Hermine Naghdalyan met on Thursday with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to Armenia Tengiz Sharmanashvili.
According to the National Assembly press release, Hermine Naghdalyan noted that the close ties between the two brotherly peoples have not given any doubt, and this meeting would be a good occasion to touch upon the inter-parliamentary cooperation, which was not as active as it was expected.
Congratulating Mrs Naghdalyan on being elected Deputy Speaker of the RA National Assembly Tengiz Shramanashvili also stressed that the cooperation between the two parliaments during the last years had been weak in case when meetings had been at the level of the two presidents, the Armenian-Georgian relations had passed a rapprochement road. He expressed hope that there would be more occasions of cooperating with the National Assembly of the 5th convocation of the Republic of Armenia, and willingness to personally contribute to it.
The parties touched upon the issue of deepening the inter-parliamentary relations at the level of the committees, in connection of which Hermine Naghdalyan noted that the Committee on Armenian-Georgian Inter-Parliamentary Relations successfully functioned in the Armenian National Assembly, requested Tengiz Sharamanashvili to promote it in order to extend its composition, and within possibility to create a Committee. Mrs Naghdalyan also wished successful procedure to the parliamentary elections expecting in Georgia in autumn.
The interlocutors also touched upon other issues of bilateral interest.
