Armenia’s leadership is keeping close track of the current developments in Syria, taking necessary steps on different levels and in different directions, says a Foreign Ministry official.

“The current efforts are aimed first of all at ensuring the security and normal routine life of the Syrian-Armenians,” Sergey Manasaryan, a deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, has said in a statement, responding Tert.am’s request about the Armenian authorities’ steps in view of the current crisis in Syria.

Manasaryan has refrained from providing many details on the grounds that making all the activities public might negatively affect effectiveness of the steps being taken.

He said only that the authorities keep the issue in focus at all international meetings.

“We maintain permanent contacts through envoys periodically visiting Armenian, the Armenian Embassy in Damascus and the Consulate General of Armenia in Aleppo,” he said.
