The EU Advisory group, in collaboration with the Armenian Economy Ministry, conducted a seminar on Friday dedicated to the possible challenges and opportunities of the Armenia-EU talks over Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement.

Addressing the attendees, Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan said the agreement, to be signed after the negotiations, will be of great significance for Armenia’s economy, Armenian producers and the country in general.

The agreement will refer to all the sectors of Armenia’s economy. “It will create new condition and afford new opportunities for our economy and particularly for export,” the minister said.

According to Davtyan, Armenia is exporting a considerable volume of products to EU countries.
Onno Simons, the acting head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, noted that before signing the agreement, it is necessary to bring the Armenian production, sanitary norms in accordance with European standards.

“It is important both for the development of economy and equipment. The production devices should be upgraded,” he said.

Asked how much time it will take to sign the free trade area agreement, Simons said everything depends on Armenia.
