Better protection for children with special needs in Armenia

Armenia’s Ministry of Education and Science and Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs will strengthen cooperation in ensuing social protection of children with special needs.
Armenia’s Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan and Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artyom Asatryan signed a joint decree on a relevant program of action. The program envisages joint management of special schools and measures to ensure social protection for children with special needs.
A number of projects are to be implemented this and next year. Minister Armen Ashotyan noted that further cooperation will facilitate social integration of children with special needs.
A number of general education institutions will be offered re-organization into special schools and institutions rendering alternative services.
Minister Artyom Asatryan noted that protection of children is among the ministry’s top priorities.
The work has entered a new stage which is to ensure high-level protection of children, he said.
