Armenian FM on elections in Nagorno Karabakh

13:20 • 20.07.12

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian described the presidential polls conducted in Nagorno Karabakh on Thursday as free, fair and competitive, coming to prove the loyalty of the Karabakh authorities and people to democracy and rule of law.

“We welcome the presence of tens of international observers who have described the elections as organized, transparent, and corresponding to international standards. I do not think that any democratic country will argue the necessity and significance of formation of democratically elected authorities,” the foreign minister told Armenpress.

According to Nalbandian, the international community should be interested in establishing relations with the authorities elected by the people of Nagorno Karabakh.

“The elections once again prove the determination of the Artsakh people to dominate their fate in a democratic way,” Minister Nalbandian concluded.
