Unknown individuals in Russia’s Rostov province have killed the president of the regional court, Samvel Manukyan, RIA Novosti reported.

The assault occurred at 3:00 am on Friday. Four masked men broke into the judge’s apartment through a window, releasing five gunshots. Two of the bullets reached the target. Manukyan’s wife and son were at home but they did not reportedly suffer any physical damage.

The perpetrators later escaped in a Nissan Teana vehicle.

A criminal proceeding has been launched.

The ethnic Armenian judge is said to have worked at the court since 1998.
