Armenia’s Industrial council discusses development issues

Regular session of the Industrial council took place on Tuesday chaired by PM Tigran Sargsyan. According to government’s press release, heads of state institutions, private sector representatives attended the meeting.
Armenia’s Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan briefed on the process of the work within the framework of export-oriented industrial policy and strategy implementation program.
According to the minister, the industrial sphere has registered dynamic development in the first half of 2012, with the industrial enterprises giving outlet amounting to 501,4 billion Armenian drams making it 13% more as compared with the 2011. Tigran Davtyan said the government continues state support to industrial companies.
Referring to organizational works, the minister said councils have been formed to focus on brandy making, pharmaceutics and biotechnology spheres comprised of representatives of the ministry, Armenian Development Agency, private sector.
Works are underway for developing a strategy and plan of actions to intensify jewelry production sphere.
The session approved draft program for 2012-2015 action plan for pharmaceutics and biotechnology as well 2012-2015 draft program for brandy-making sectors.
