MPs on Gyumri mayoral elections

In case Gyumri mayor Vardan Ghukasyan will not run for mayoral post in the local self-governmental elections in Gyumri slated for September 8 it will be no tragedy, MP from the Republican Party of Armenia Margarit Yesayan told the reporters on Tuesday.
“It is a common pre-electoral process. If Ghukasyan does not nominate his candidacy there is no need to search for tragedies,” Yesayan said, claiming there is no extraordinary thing in it.
According to media outlets, the incumbent Gyumri mayor Vardan Ghukasyan will not run for mayor, while the ruling Republican Party will back Prosperous Armenia party candidate Samvel Balasanyan.
Anush Sedrakyan, vice president of Free Democrats party, said the situation created over the Gyumri mayoral elections is much more serious than it is being presented.
