Armenian PM receives Russian State Duma chairman

Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin, visiting Armenia, met on Tuesday with Armenia’s Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

 

According to government’s press release, the Russian top official rated high the strategic partnership between Armenia and Russia, saying that bilateral trade-economic ties make the main element of it.

 

“We are proud to be Armenia’s chief economic partner. The parliamentarians of the two countries are ready to do everything possible to expand Armenian-Russian economic ties,” the State Duma chairman said.

 

Naryshkin welcomed the initiative on working out new cooperation program between the governments of the two countries, voicing his assistance in the implementation of the works.

 

On his part, PM Tigran Sargsyan said such meetings are good occasions to discuss issues on Armenian-Russian relations.

 

The premier said diversification of bilateral economic ties will give new impetus to the Armenian-Russian strategic relations. The head of the government said currently Armenian and Russian governments are working on new long-term cooperation draft program that engages all the sectors of cooperation, joint programs and goals intended to be implemented by 2020.

 

The interlocutors also referred to the integration processes within the framework of Eurasian Economic Community, deepening of cooperation between the regions of the two countries.
