With the situation in Syria deteriorating day by day, Catholicos Aram I of Cilicia has called for more support to the country’s Armenian population.

Being aware of several families’ plight amid the escalating war, the patriarch has allocated money to the local prelacy for covering their primary needs.

According to the press service of the Cilicia Catholicosate, he has particularly stressed the importance of providing a practical assistance to the Syrian Armenians.

The patriarch has considered the preservation of Armenian communities a supreme national interest.

“It was thanks to their collective will, belief and unanimity that the Lebanese-Armenians remained unshakable in the period of the terrible war. The Armenians of Syria have now to do the same. It is not now time to make emotional statements. It is necessary to support the Armenians of Syria to enable them to come over the difficulties,” he said.
