Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited on Saturday the Avan Salt Plant to get familiarized with the company’s investment programs aimed at enhancing and modernizing salt manufacturing technologies.

According to the Armenian Government’s official website, the premier was accompanied by the ministers of economy and finance, Tigran Davtyan and Vache Gabrielyan, the head of the Government’s staff, David Sargsyan, as well as several parliament members and businessmen.

The company, which opened a high quality salt manufacturing enrichment plant in 1969, now needs modernizing technologies and up-to-date equipment to maintain its product quality and competitiveness.

With that purpose, it has launched cooperation with the leading Swiss salt evaporation and crystallization company SEP, asking it to design a project of a new plant equipped with modern technologies and energy carriers.

As the high quality salt Extra is obtained from brine with the help of vacuum evaporation processes, the company has also established cooperation with the high-profile German engineering-geological project company DEEP, which has been tasked with elaborating a brine manufacturing and purification project.

The implementation of the above plans will last 3-4 year, attracting total investments of €10 million. They are expected to guarantee high quality and competitive salt of native production and increased export volumes in the coming 50 years.
