A former police officer who attempted to make a self-arson in front the Presidential Office early in June is now on a hunger strike outside the building of the Armenian police.

Mkhitar Alumyan is there with two underage daughters, one of them, the 10-year-old Karine, suffering from a disability.

The father of five demands that his salary and overtime work at the Police be reimbursed. Employees at the Presidential Office promised the ex-policeman to assist in his daughter’s treatment and find him a job.

Alumyan claims the Police owed to him 2.5 million Drams (about $6,000).

Last week, Commander of the Patrol Police Detachment Valery Osipyan promised to solve the problem by the end of July.

Alumyan was this time accompanied to the reception of the chief of police, but as he later told Tert.am he had met there an assistant, instead of Lieutenant-General Vladimir Gasparyan.

The former policemen said he was denied money again, adding that he has already been paid part of the sum - 1.9 million Drams (about $4.600).

Alumyan said his demand for meeting the chief of police had also met a rejection.

As for the child’s health problems, she needs a surgery which will be possible only after a treatment course. She is going to have a check-up at the Malayan Ophtalmological Center on Tuesday thanks to assistance from the Presidential Office.
