Opposition Heritage party will participate in local self-governmental elections in Armenia in September, MP, vice-president of the party Ruben Hakobyan told Tert.am.

“During this period members of our administration, MPs visited country’s provinces. Currently intensive discussions are being conducted over the format of participation,” he said.

“The nominations are due to start from August 5, and we still have time to specify the format of our participation in different communities,” the party’s vice-president said, adding that the decision to actively participate in the process has already been made.

Hakobyan said the party has relevant candidacies but their names have not been specified yet.

Assessing the existing opportunities, Hakobyan said all the elections are being conducted with the same logic and if there is a difference, it is agreed with the local scale only.

“All the parties signify the local self-governmental elections but the elections are conducted with the usage of administrative resources,” he said, stressing that the opposition does not have them [administrative resources].

The party’s vice-president said they have not yet decided whether to have own candidate at mayoral elections in Gyumri, or unite over a candidate.
