Alex and Joey's flash mob proposal set a new standard for ways to start an engagement.
Joey Lancianese of Pennsylvania took two months to orchestrate, choreograph, and perform a dance medley that led to an intimate proposal Saturday, CP Entertainment reported.
Alex and Joey's flash mob proposal was no small feat. A lot of planning and subterfuge went into concealing the event from Alexandra DeLoia, who was noticeably surprised when people started dancing in the street.
"I'm a big believer that I want to do this one time and with the right person," Lancianese told The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review before he popped the question. "I want to make it as epic as possible."
The preparation was certainly epic, as the man had to persuade Sewickley, Penn. to shut down the street for the day, pretend to go to softball practice to secretly practice dance moves, and round up 300 people for a flash mob worthy of a marriage proposal.
Then, Lancianese told DeLoia that they were heading to dinner with a few friends. On the sidewalk, one man suddenly started dancing in the street, followed by another, and soon Joey joined in. Alex watched in astonishment as Joey danced to a medley that included Bruno Mars' "Marry You."
After about a 5-minute routine, he approached his blushing bride-to-be, who by then knew what was coming.
"It's a little understated I understand," he joked.
"No idea is too big for us. We can do anything together," Lancianese began. "You are my best friend in the whole world— being with you has seriously been the happiest time of my entire life."
He dropped down to one knee to ask, "Will you marry me?" DeLoia eagerly accepted his proposal to raucous applause from the crowd.
