The mobile and urban phone communication is not operating in Syria since August 1. First, two mobile operators stopped operating, then the urban phone network failed.

There is no Internet communication as well. A representative of the Syrian Armenian community told Tert.am more probably it has been done by the government’s forces to hinder communication between the rebels.

Meanwhile the escalation in Aleppo continues, though no incidents are reported in Armenian-populated districts.

Syrian state SANA news agency reports that actions against “terrorist groups” were carried out on Wednesday in north of Aleppo. Clashes are reported in Damascus, Homs, Deir ez-Zor.

BBC reports the opposition Syrian National Council has criticised rebel gunmen for killing several prisoners who were said to belong to a pro-government militia in the city of Aleppo, after footage emerged of the incident.

Human Rights Watch has said the incident could potentially be a war crime.

Video posted online shows the men, some of them bruised and bloodied, being put up against a wall half-naked and shot with Kalashnikov rifles.
