Hamazgain Theatre’s building to be built in municipality-proposed territory, Sos Sargsyan says

Head of “Hamazgain” (“All-National”) Theatre, Armenia’s people’s artist Sos Sargsyan is not going to demand from the Yerevan City Hall another place for the construction of the theatre’s building.

“Have you seen anything there? There is no tree, no green place. It is a garbage place. We will build a theatre there,” the artist told Tert.am. The Yerevan City Hall has proposed to build the theatre in the territory of Mashots park.

We are the owners of this town civil initiative released a statement on Thursday claiming that the Yerevan City Hall’s proposal contradicts the non-contradictable – Hamazgain Theatre as a milestone of culture on one hand, and the park, making an inseparable part of the urban culture.

The members of the initiative called on the head of the theatre Sos Sargsyan to demand from the urban authorities other place for the construction of the theatre.

Speaking to Sos Sargsyan, it became clear that the building is planned to be build not in the territory where previously kiosks were to be placed but on the opposite street, near Malibu café.
