Georgia’s Saakashvili not to cede power to opposition

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has promised not to cede the power to country’s opposition, Interfax reports.
Speaking at an annual folk celebration in Ajaria’s Beshumi village, the Georgian leader
said the opposition is seeking to undermine the country’s achievements.
“One of the politicians said recently that the ruling authorities have built lots of things, but they have to go as the time for the departure turns out to have arrived. I have nothing else to do to hand over an accomplished country to them. They are specialized in undermining, while we have lots of things to do,” he was quoted as saying.
The event was later attended by representatives of the opposition coalition Georgian Dream whom Saakashvili had criticized in his speech.
The coalition’s leader, Bidzina Ivanishvili had earlier told journalists that they had brought co-thinkers in minibuses. The crowd was later reported to have prevented a meeting between the opposition leaders and the residents of the village.
