Russian carrier Aeroflot quits flights to Syria

10:00 • 06.08.12

Russian carrier Aeroflot has quitted flights to Syria grounding it with economic reasons, RIA Novosti reports.

In late July a source said Damascus-Moscow flights are full while the jets flying to Damascus are almost empty.

Syria’s Transport Minister Mahmud Sayid said the air communication between Syria and Russia though will not be stopped with other airlines still carrying out flights, including the Syrian Air. The minister also said as part of EU’s sanctions Syrian jets have been banned to land in European airports.

Agreed with the created situation a number of airlines decided not to implement flights to Syria.
