People’s Party leader blames Holy See for not banning bribery

14:21 • 17.08.12

Leader of People’s Party Tigran Karapetyan does not understand the stance of the Holy See in election bribery case.

“There are cannibal tribes in Africa and if their shaman says do not eat, they don’t. Here no one says do not take money, sell nation, belief, do not bring to power evil people, businessmen,” he told a news conference on Friday.

However, Tigran Karapetyan said he has forgiven the Armenian voters taking election bribes, and even understands them.

The party’s leader was not in the country for just two months and does not face the issue of returning to policy.

“I am not going to change my stance, I will remain the same as I am, fair, bribe-free, not relying on external forces,” he told the reporters.

Earlier Tert.am reported that Tigran Karapetyan will run for presidency at the 2013 presidential elections.

He said during this time an attempt was made to label him but none of them “stuck” him. “There is fairness, concern about Armenian people, charity,” he said.
